La Minute Builder #9 — Have you ever spent weeks building a feature… that nobody ended up using?

« Have you ever spent weeks building a feature… that nobody ended up using? »
Me too. We've all been there.
In this edition of La Minute Builder, here are the 3 biggest tech illusions that lead to this outcome.
- Illusion #1: the faster we build, the more value we create.
- Illusion #2: the more modern or complex the technology, the better the product.
- Illusion #3: the more features we add, the more valuable the product becomes.
I often see teams jump into development before answering essential questions:
- Does a solution already exist on the market?
- What truly differentiates us?
- Does this feature address a real need?
- Is this technology the best fit for the problem?
A mobile app isn't automatically better than a web app.
Adding AI isn't automatically innovation.
An attractive feature isn't necessarily a useful one.
The paradox?
- Technology is a means, not an end.
- The best solution isn't always the most complex one.
- A feature only has value if it addresses a real need.
Before writing a single line of code, I always ask myself these questions.
