La Minute Builder — Google AI Overviews and SEO, 7 levers to be cited by AI
« Here are the 7 levers to become the source AI chooses to cite in search results. »

Google has announced the rollout of AI Overviews in France by 22 July 2026.

AI-generated answers will appear directly in search results.

The real change is not the disappearance of SEO.

The real change is this:

« We now have to design content to be understood, judged reliable… then cited by AI. »
Lever 1 — Answer a precise question clearly

1 / 7

The 7 levers that matter most

1. Answer a precise question in a defined topic

Example: “How do you optimize SEO for Google AI Overviews?”

2. Structure content for humans and for AI

Example: use H2/H3 headings, bullet lists, a FAQ and short paragraphs.

3. Share an experience AI cannot invent

Example: on one of my own articles, adding Schema.org (Article + FAQ) made the content appear in an AI Overview in under 3 weeks — a result I could not have guessed without testing it.

4. Build recognizable authority

Example: publish regularly on a precise topic, write articles, run a newsletter and speak at conferences.

5. Use structured data (Schema.org)

Example: add Article, Author, FAQ and Breadcrumb markup on a page.

6. Keep content up to date

Example: AI systems favor recently updated pages — reviewing a strategic article every 6 months is often more valuable than publishing a new one.

7. Optimize to become the reference answer

Example: write the most complete content on a topic so that Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude cite it as a source.

SEO is not disappearing. It is evolving.

We are moving from a ranking logic to a logic of understanding, trust and citation.

« In my view, this is probably the biggest shift in SEO in more than 10 years. »
